The more than 7,000 islands of the Philippines literally stand still every time the so called ‘PAMBANSANG KAMAO’ takes on the ring to spew out powerful punches against whoever the opponent is.  Whatever there is in this Filipino’s fist, it is simply the magic that only MANNY PACQUIAO can do, and can do it best.   With now 7 world titles in 7 different weight divisions, he can be called best as the 7th Wonder of the Modern World.

Filipinos in merrymaking as the country's sports hero Manny Pacquiao defeated Miguel Cotto.

At 4:00 AM. Sunday (UK time), in Las Vegas, Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines, considered the pound-for-pound king of the world, forge yet the best record in the world’s boxing history by impressively defeating Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico, in a much anticipated WBO welterweight crown title. The much bigger Cotto played defenceless against the quicker, wittier, and more powerful throws of Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao as the former welterweight title holder was battered down in the earlier 3rd and 4th rounds. Hopelessly cautious in the next round, Cotto tried to get even by releasing heavy punches to Manny’s head and body, yet the much dynamic and consistent Pacquiao seemed to easily absorbed his desperate blows , receiving back deadly counter punches and left attacks that led Mr Bayless to stop the bout in the 12th round.

Once again today, in a very historic feat, MANNY PACQUIAO proved to the whole world what he is made of.  To his countrymen and nation who’ve been supporting him in all of his fights, he is a sports hero and an example of gracious humility whose wealth and fame are just under his feet. He remains a simple man and a responsible father to his children.  To the world, he is an icon in sports, one in the league of great and famous boxers like Ali, Fraser, and De la Hoya.  To the ordinary fans, he is a living example of a realised dream, a symbol of determination and discipline.

What is very extraordinary with Manny Pacquiao is that every time he fights, he also spews out his magic to unite the country not just for a day but for a real reason that every one realises his identity as a Filipino.  From the war-torn Julu, to the typhoon stricken Aparri, his victory becomes everyone’s.  Filipinos around the world, scream with pride and shout their hearts out, in support of a person whose bringing glory to the country and its people. The Pacman does not only do it good in the ring, but he does it best in inspiring his countrymen that humility hardwork, determination, and discipline define a successful man. And more importantly, patience and faith in God help realise everyone’s dream.
